Prompt: 

"Shells come from sea creatures and grow into a wide variety of unique organic shapes. Start by finding a set of references images of a seashell, or take the pics yourself."

"In this exercise you should use the image canvas feature in Fuesion 360 in order to create a reference to the side and top of the shell. When sourcing your reference image, it's important to have a clear view of both top and side of the object."

The Untold Story of

"THE JESUS"

You are probably familiar with the story of "The Dude" from the Coen Brothers classic movie, The Big Lebowski.  The Coen's however failed to reveal the until now, unsubstantiated tales of "The Jesus". His power comes from the ancient "Medallion De Azteca Blanco", which hasn't been seen since the almost forgotten collapse of the St. Francis Dam on March 12, 1928. Intent on saving Los Angeles from Nihilist occupation and the porn industry, the Jesus attempts to awaken the ancient power of the medallion.

Option 2

Select a favorite film. Create an object that was not part of the original film. Taking 3 frames from the original footage, place your object into each scene. Develop a new narrative that explains the object’s relevance in the scene.

Found Object, DICE with Hearts

3D Printed DICE with Hearts

After some careful consideration, I choose to model a different object for project one. With Valentines Day clearly in sight, I settled on Dice with Hearts. I used digital calipers to measure the original item and Fusion 360 to create the 3D model. This item was fairly simple, but still presented challenges for positioning the hearts correctly, and creating a smooth contour.

The 3D model came out better than I expected. 

The original found item (dice) held up to the screen shows a very close resemblance to the model in Fusion 360.

After slicing the 3D model, I printed out a couple of dice on the Ultimaker Pro 3D Printer in the FabLab at the University of Tampa. The total print time was right around 2 hours.

The final product came out much better than expected. The way I set up the axis orrientation placed the 5 heart side on the bottom. This yeilded a slightly less detailed look compared with the other sides. I feel like I could get a better result in the future by orienting the side with one heart on the bottom. All in all though, I'm very pleased with the results, which are very close to the original item (other than the color of course).

My found object is the frame for a drum trigger sensor (Roland V-Drums). The original part is made out of sheet metal.

Using Fusion 360 software, a 3D model was created.
